Adjust Alarm

Can anyone tell me why my Previa 01 alrm keeps going off?

could it be

1. A weak Battery (-would also explain why the starting is slightly delayed)

2. Too sensitive (in which case how do I adjust - I can see a white box with + and - on it behind the lower compartment under the ash try. Dont see a screw though.

Hi,

I had this problem on my 2002 Previa, which I had from new. Main dealer firstly adjusted something (probably what you are referring to), and then replaced a couple of components, all under warranty. That was 4 years ago, and no problems since, at least with the alarm system.

But have had issues with the engine malfunction lamp coming on sporadically - see my recent post (and others) about this.

I had a lot of trouble with my alarm going off randomly - it would be fine for months then go off every day for a few days - it turned out to be the bonnet alarm sensor. The catch wasn't quite depressing the sensor fully, so it could spring up and set off the alarm anytime - it was worse in windy weather. Toyota garage identified and fixed the problem after a bit of trial and error.
