Engine Squeal When Accelerating

I'm the owner of a 2004 T-Spirit D-4D - had it for 6 months and I'm extremely pleased with it

One very small niggle is that under accelarating (normally 3rd and 4th gear / 1800-2000 rpm) the car develops a momentary squeal which disappears once 2000rpm is reached. The car itself doesn't seem to be affected too much.

What's even stranger is that the noise completely disappears with the aircon turned on.

I remeber seeing a similar post on here a few months back, but I'm unable to locate it - anyone any suggestions? :help:

Hi There

Yep, I'd go along with that, classic sign of a loose belt

Worth getting it fixed soon (very easy to do yourself), as the squeal is the belt slipping, wearing it out. Next comes snap, no charging, breakdown etc....................

Cheers

Hi Stevie

It happens warm or cold - from what the rest of the lads say it sounds like a belt problem

I would say its a belt problem, we have a load of avensis in at work with the same problem. We change the belt tho. They do tend to squeal my dads had a few avensis and they have all developed the same problem.

If it happens when warm or cold and stops when the A/C is on i would say it could be the A/C compressor clutch squealing or the belt.

Mart.
