Yaris Wheel Bearing Question

Wifes 1.0 Yaris has just failed its MOT because of a dodgy wheel bearing.

Garage says it needs the whole rear wheel hub replacing because it has ABS and it is a sealed unit.

Part cost would be in the reagion of £250 + fitting.

Firstly is it true that to replace the bearing you need to replace the hub, secondly is 250 too much ?

Thanks for any advice you can give.

Matt

Before changing it, did they try just tightening it up a nip?

Sometimes, that is enough, just for a while.

You may also think of trying a scrappy, if you know how to fit it or if they can do it for you. Might be a lot cheaper as they don't go that often. Look for a low mileage, blown engine or front end damage car. As 75% of braking is done on the front, they should be ok. :)
