Well, it's been a little while, but I found out some info. Basically, I can import to UK a car older than 10 years pretty easily, and if I want to import a vehicle less than 10 years will be needing an Enhanced Single Vehicle Approval, or simply ESVA, (SVA is not enough any more). To use an ESVA, I must get a model report for my car by renting from some one (http://www.vosa.gov.uk/vosacorp/publications/modelreports/modelreports.htm).

Some common modifications required usually:

* Speedo must be converted from km/h to miles/h

* License plate space expanded to fit UK size

* Rear fog light installed

* May need a catalytic converter

* RASS (Radio Activated Security Systems), such as an immobiliser or alarm, may need frequencies adjusted

* Fuel-filler nozzle diameter reduced (which will protect the catalytic converter from leaded fuel)

My source (with a lot of other stuff) come from http://japan-used-car-exporting.info/impor...-used-cars.html

On the bottom of the page is some links to some good gov sites to look up (such as the DFT link).
