ok so i've been playing with the idea of getting a yaris tsport... but on a crap salary there's no way I could afford to live once I was paying for the yaris. :(

soooo...

how about a 1.3 starlet turbo? would only be 6grand i imagine, not sure about insurance....:eek:

I would want the 1996+ model because the older one looks to dated for my liking :!Removed!:

I know they're pretty quick and lightweight so should handle well I imagine, the turbo will have scope for tuning (i'm sure it'll be quick enough as it is though).... :o

and asides from that I have NEVER seen one of these in my area so it would be quite an 'exclusive' boy racer car to have :D

Any advice, help, tips, hints, things to look for when buying, what not to buy, what problems they have, what mileage they start to fall apart at, how expensive they are to run, etc etc etc etc

Thankyou in advance!

Ok Sam, good choice

1. Check insurance first can be expensive.

2. www.toyotaownersclub.com - where most starlet guys hang out.

3. 6K should get you a 1996 Glanza as you have said these are rare cars so unless importing throught a company be prepared to travel to find one.

4. Problems - None really it's a toyota!! Just look for the normal turbo things smoke on start up/when cold. Check everything works parts can be expensive and take time to get hold of sometimes.

5.Anything else just ask mate add me to msn if you have it.

Oh jap import so it's either normal unleaded + octane booster, super unleaded or optimax. I get about 250 - 300 mile on £30 optimax

I'm 20, have 2 years no claims but they were on another car when i took out the policy so weren't being used. Also 3 points of SP50. £850 for the 10 month policy

Dom be careful with that policy unless you stay with elephant allot of insuers will not accept it as a years no-claims

thanks dom, i imagine i'll be somewhere in the reigon of 1000 quid to insure it... which... I can just about deal with

Have been really looking into getting one now and i'm quite excited about it :D

just waiting for something to happen on the employment front, soon as the money comes in i'll be joining the glanza section of TOC B)

just the news i needed! i was worried my 10 month bonus scheme with elephant might not be accepted elsewhere! as i can't afford elephant when i have to renewal as you have to pay lump sum! and i'm rather poor at the mo :crybaby:

Hope fully my insurance will go below a £1000 cos i'll be 20 with 1yr ncb, but i doubt it will!

Anyway good luck with the search for a starlet! you won't be disappointed! had mine just under a year and its been perfect! 13yrs old, and no problems at all!
