It is a 2005 Yaris with Goodyear GT3 tires which are so crap it is beyond describing. Could you advise me for a replacement tire? The size 175/65/14.

Thanks!

The older Yaris used to come with Bridgestone tyres as standard. Dunno if that helps. Driven fairly sanely, you should get 30,000 miles out of them. Mine started cracking, with age, before tread wore out at 5 years, 28,000 miles. B)

Hi again guys not posted here for a good while now. Joined mainly because I was looking for tyres around this time last year.

Got a pair of Toyo CF1 Proxes for the front in the end to replace some Eurotours which were not too hot (on when I purchased the car). Plenty of tread left on the Eurotours but the tyres seemed to "go off".

Anywho I am very pleased with my Proxes which I purchased from blackcircles.com.

Completely diffferent car now IMO. The novelty of being able to pull away on a mild slope in the wet still hasn't worn off. ;)

In what way were the Goodyears crap. Did you not like the handling, the way the car rode or was it a noise or wear issue?

I ask because Mrs CR's Yaris came with GT3s as OE and they stood up to the job very well, offering the pleasant handling we all know but at the same time being quiet whilst going about they're business and with, what I can only describe as an excellent wear rate. The Continentals that replaced the front pair (at 40k miles) were rotten in comparison, noisy and worn out after 16k miles.

We've had Pirelli P3000s on for about a year now and I would recommend these. Grip is excellent as is noise levels with little signs of wear.

I got my new yaris about 2 weeks ago... And so far i've experienced that lack of grip at least three times... It always seems to be happening on wet roads next to roundabouts...

Turning and accelerating on such a light car, you are always going to get this. Tyres need to be warm enough before any drastic actions are taken and in this country, in winter, they won't get warm for quite a while and will cool rapidly. Take it easy for the first few miles, better for the engine too!

P.S. I have now got some tyres that are made by Mitchelin, under a different name. Not sure what it is at the mo, but sound foreign. Not sure how grippy they are or how well they are gonna last but can't see Mitchelin putting their name to any old tummy-rot!

Seems to be mixture of tyres fitted to new Yaris.

Mine had..has Goodyear GT2s and they seem fine...on a 2005 1.3 Colour....done 24k miles and still plenty of tread left on the front...

My GoodYear GT (2 or 3, dont remember) from begin 2004 went for 90000 km, and still going strong. Do you drive on emery roads or something? ;)

Find your nearest 'Costco', become a member and get the Michelin Energys fitted. Now that is a bargain and well worth a yearly £20 membership fee. You will save more than that on the tyres and get a free meal as you walk around the store waiting for them to be fitted!

Thanks for all the replies, the problem with GT3 are they often spin like mad accelerating and not very good when breaking hard, ABS comes on a lot. Cornering is fine. Now that it is winter they are even worse. not good for snow or ice. Will check P3000.
