2003 T-spirit D4d, 3 Questions?

Hi all, i have a few questions about my 2003(new shape) Tspirit d4d, that i was hoping you could help me with.

1: does anyone know where the air intake for the ventilation system is?

2: where is the recirc/fresh air valve located?

These 2 i'm asking because of a bad fogging problem. I've already changed out the cabin air filter which made no difference. I'm convinced there is not enough fresh air getting into the car because if i open the window just a fraction of an inch, the problem goes away. So i'm thinking either the intake is blocked somewhere, or the recirc valve is sticking maybe.

3: How the heck do you get the door panels off(without damaging it), because i cant see any screws holding it on, or plugs which might be covering screwsif you know what i mean?

This one because my drivers door central locking isnt working. All 3 i'm asking because i cant find a manual(i.e Haynes) for this model, only the old one.

Any help would be appreciated guys. Thanks.

Davie

i dont know what it is for but there is something next to the passenger side fog light. it might be for the turbo though as the petrol versions dont have it.

The vent next to the passenger front fog light is the cold air input for the engine, it goes to the airfilter. I think the fresh air vents are situated between the bottom of the windscreen and the bonnet, not sure though.

I fixed the fogging problem! :D

It was the recirc valve, stuck in the recirc position due to the fact that the previous owner had a hands free kit installed, and the gubbins for this had got caught in the recirc valve flap, jamming it in "recirc" so no fresh air coming in.

Still need any suggestions on getting the door panels off.

Cheers lads.

To remove your door trim is pretty straight forward, if i recall you only have 2 or 3 odd screws & the remainder of door panel is held via push in plastic clips. If you remove trim from around your inner release handle/central locking assembly & electric window switch pack you should find 2 screws. May be one behind petrol release cap button- but not certain of this one. Panel should pop off with trim remover slipped between door & trim but make sure you lift panel whilst removing due to the top of the panel locating via ridge at top of the door. If you do not find door actuator/wiring fault, you have 2 central locking components that can cause problem. C/locking module for double locking is behind glove box towards left hand side & your C/Locking signal control module is located to the righthand side of dash just above your bonnet release. Before stripping door completely check enclosed wiring loom for open circuit that runs from body to door. Have come across broken wires in this area before. Good Luck.

Had another think about door removal, if you look at n/s/f door you will see a small rectangle trim piece that coincides with fuel release button on o/s/f door. Trim covering hole for fuel button for left hand drive cars, certain screw behind fuel cap button on o/s door. And not so sure if screw under electric window switch pack, sure just behind door release lever trim.

I found the 2 screw you mentioned behind the handle and the electric window switches, but after removing them door panel still seems fairly solid so i reckon there is a third screw somewhere, although i cant see it behind the fuel filler release. Maybe i'm just being too gentle with it out of fear of breaking it! Anyway, thanks for the help, i'll have another go in a few days.

ps, when you say "trim remover" you mean "big screwdriver" right? :)

To dmacdou1,

Have another look behind fuel cap release button & look upwards at a slight angle (had avensis in w/shop the other day) you will see a 10mm

bolt head. That is your reason for door panel not coming off. My apologies 2 screws & 1 small bolt, if no trim remover to hand beleive it or not

big screwdriver better to use than small one it will not cut into door panel. A bit of gentle force & door panel plastic clips will pop out easily.
