Platinum Vs. Iridium

I finally got some new plugs for the car (Engine is 7A-FE). Most places recomend using Platinum Plugs but when I've gone to put the plugs in there is a sticker on the engine which says "only use Iridium plugs".

Is there any real difference between the two types and is it safe to use Platinum plugs.

Also, do I have to change the gap on the plugs or should I leave the gap that was on the plugs out of the box (I reckon the gap is about 1.1 but I don't have any guages that thick!).

Iridium is a hotter plug it burns white rather than platium blue it is also designed for extended periods of use excellent for turbo and supercharged applications and is a sure thing for 100 000km so you dont have to change them!!!!!

the plug is actually made for the application so no you dont have to change the gap !!!

I have run these things for the life of my two previos motors 356 000km and swear by them

but with my new motor being turbo have found that i have had to drop a complete heat range to avoid detination being so hot
