Does The New Yaris Have Automatic Door Locking?

Sorry for asking so many questions!

I ordered my new Yaris SR yesterday. When looking for a new car automatic door locking (once inside the car and driving off) was on my list of must-haves. Unfortunately I fell so much in love with Yaris when test driving it and loved all the extras it came with (like keyless entry and start) that I forgot to check if it had everything on my list. If it doesn't have it then I won't be too dissapointed but if it does I'll be extra happy.

So, does anyone know?

Remote central locking :)

So a button on your fob.

Press once = locked

Twice = deadlocked

Hello the new yaris has not got automatic door locking but you can lock the door when you get in to drive off, this is on my wifes new 1.4 diesel yaris. hope this helps

No............not automatic locking (A La ,RENAULT Clio...........where the doors lock at 15 m.p.h.)

But you are provided with a lock switch on the drivers inside door which when operated locks all doors

Yes it does.

In the user manual it says that the dealer can activate this up for you.

By default it is turned off. When you pick up your car ask someone who knows what they are doing and it can be activated for you there and then.

Ignition Controlled Door Lock/Anti Car-Jacking Feature

The system will lock all doors automatically when the ignition is turned on and unlock all doors automatically when the ignition is turned off to prevent the possibility of an outsider opening the door and entering the vehicle. (This feature can be selected. Please ask your TOYOTA dealer)

Thank you for this!!! I probably wouldn't have known about it otherwise. I'll get the dealer to sort it for me when I pick the car up. Thanks again!

I do not think that the New Yaris has this facility available.

As TVOR has raised your expectations, perhaps you should ask your dealer.

If you find out that it can be programmed in then please let us all know , because I might ask my Toyota dealer to activate mine ;)

As someone mentioned, it's a feature on the Clio and after seeing it in action looks a right pain in the *****. Id rather my manual buttons on the driver's side any day.

TVOR has given factual based information from the manufacturer and not an unapprised opinion...

And I am very grateful to TVOR for the information. It seems unlikely he is wrong if he has taken it out of the Yaris manual. Even if he is, he was only trying to help me.

Of course if I find out this is the case (that automatic locking is available) then I will let you all know. Might not be for a week or so yet though.

My partner has a 57 plate Renault Clio (buying one was a very bad decision - that's another story) but it has automatic door locking and I love it. My Ka has central locking and I always make sure I lock the doors when I get it (which is no more difficult than it will be pressing the button in the Yaris) but it's a pain to have to remember. Being a woman, and driving on my own a lot, I feel reassured by automatic door locking.

  • 4 weeks later...
It will be something along these lines to activate it...

Clicky

Mr T will know the procedure for the Yaris. If he asks you to pat your head and rub your stomach at the same time, walk away because he doesn't know what he's talking about!

Another Yaris owner wants it turned off!

Hi, I have an Auris but I also wanted this feature enabled if possible. In the Portuguese version of the manual I couldn't find any information as the ones you stated above. I tried the sequence on that PDF it didn't work however when I locked the car it made a longer sound not as the usual one but that was it. Maybe the sequence is similar for the Auris but some step is missing in order to complete the activation.

Do you have any information for the Auris? Did that sequence worked on the new Yaris?

Let me know guys because the guy in the Toyota service told me that such feature is not possible that some module is not installed on the Auris???? whatever that means. Also I found some topic on these in a Portuguese forum and other information they got from Toyota in Portugal is that you need an alarm for these ???? Weird since both things are related besides I do have an alarm installed.

'99 Yarises have it there. Under the handbrake there is the seat warming buttons and in between them directly under the brake handle is a lock/unlock switch. :) Really old though as said. I doubt they've removed that but as you are implying might have moved it, it's really a pain in the ***** getting to the button with the hand

The Auris has such button on the door too but what I wanted was this to be automatic either when you place/remove the key from the ignition or when the car starts moving like so many other cars have. The PDF that was placed here as a procedure but it doesn't work with the Auris.

I need to see a photograph of that... sounds rather strange

Are you sure it's not an after market fitting by a previous owner?
