Hi, is there anyone out there, who like me, simply hates these"Toytown" space saver spare wheels ?

I'm off soon to Switzerland and would hate to have a puncture in the depths of darkest France/Belgium/Germany. I'm looking to buy a full size spare 5 stud, 16"" wheel; would a used one  from a Celica fit my 2006 Corolla Verso, I don't really want to but a new one.

Edit.. for your info I bought a full size Auris alloy wheel and it fits perfectly.

I do agree with you I hate them as well !!! but I think we are lucky to get a space saver tyre many cars have run flat tyres or a can of sealant .

I think this will be the way things will go!! spare tyres will be a thing of the past

And yet in Great Britain - the HIghway Code states :

Both wheels on the same axle must be of the same size (width, etc) !!!

Plus in the 70's British Leyland sold cars (Austin Princess and Mini 1275GT) with no spare wheels as the car was sold with so-called 'run flat' wheels/tyres called the 'Denovo Wheel and Tyre' package. Within months Leyland were made to supply spare wheels to the customers who had bought the cars as it was claimed no spare wheel was not in accordance with the sale of new cars (emphasise NEW, it is NOT a legal requirement to carry a spare afterwards).

So nowadays are manufacturers 'calling the shots'?

About 6 year ago I wrote to motoring organisations (RAC etc.) and Toyota UK about this and never received a reply from any of them.

:(

P.S. 'CAN OF SEALANT' ? - And as many of us know the 'Can of sealant' NEVER works!
