Diesel In Petrol / Access Fault Codes.

Hi everyone I'm a new member on this very interesting site with a problem.

I am enquiring about access to fault codes: I read on this Yaris forum recently that if obd pins 4 & 13 were connected the fault code is flashed up.

I tried this on our 2 year old Aygo 1.0 but it didn't work.

Can anyone help?

Do I have to buy a scanner?

It may help if I explain what has happened;

Last week my wife accidently topped the car up with diesel and drove home 5 miles.

The car began to stutter and she got the AA to take her to the Toyota dealer.

They drained the fuel and checked it over and said it would cost £420.00 and it should be ready the following day.

When my wife rang the next day the car would not be ready for a week and the bill would be not £420 but £1200!

This was for a new cat and 2 oxygen sensors.

Obviously this was a bit of a shock.

After seeking advice it seemed that a good drive may largely rectify the problem (burn the remains of the diesel in the exhaust/cat.)

So we took the car away - after paying £410! It ran perfectly although the low fuel warning came on - they had only put a gallon in! and a sheet advised us that the oil was low- it was serviced by them 2 months ago! (Why didn't they top it up?)

Anyway we took it on a long motorway trip but 2 days later the engine symbol came on.

The car still runs well but I'd like to know what the fault is if possible without much further expense.
