It depends on price, when I did the one on my old 2.0 Primera it only cost £8 for a genuine Nissan one so if it's cheap enough you might aswell just buy a new one.

In the USA fuel filters are not cleanable for the most part, we just replace them. As a rule they last a couple years then need changed. Depending on how much driving you do.

Yep - Change the fuel filter every 24,000 miles/2 years - you can never clean them out properly.
