Interior Courtesy Light No Longer Works.

Since i got my car back from the bodyhop my interior lights no longer turn on when i unlock the car or open the doors.

The boot light had been disabled which i flicked to the on position, but the passenger ones do not have a switch to select 'door' mode.

I read somewhere it disables the lights if the doors are left open for a long time. But does not mention how to reset it.

Anyone with any ideas?

Cheers

Are you talking about the lights at the front of the car? Because those are just on/off lights that are operated by a button. The light situated in the centre of the roof should have an on/off/door switch though.

Slight confusion here.

The interior lights are known as curtousy lights, a.k.a vanity lights, doors lights.

When you unlock the car via the fob or open the doors they turn on to aid a person to see inside the car both for security and to help getting in comfortably. Not sure what other lights these are being confused with.

The curtousy light will remain on for 5seconds until a key is placed into the ignition or the door is closed. There is only an on/off switch, no auto or door mode. These lights always worked before but now they only work when manually switched on and do not go out if doors are closed.

I guess i won't know if the reset worked till tomorrow so will post back with an update.

The lights you are on about are the map reading lights, just behind the rear view mirror, they only have a on and a off button. The light which comes on when you press the key fob and has a 10 or 12 sec timer to turn it off is located in the center of the roof. Its has a 3 position switch, off,on and a timer function which turns light off few secs after you closed the door or when you turn on the ignition, which ever comes first

Hope that helps

Ah that sounds strangely familiar, i think i may have enabled that once when i first bought the car over a year ago but cant remember. Trouble is the past few days i've had the car back the only time the light thing bugs me is at night, and as i can't see anything cos it's so dark thats why i may have missed it if it's in the centre of the roof.

Lol even my sister had a look last night but didn;t know. And she owned the car for 1 year before i bought it off her!

Must remember to check tomorrow during the day, otherwise i'll have to find my torch.

Thanks mate.

Whoo-hoo! Hogie was spot on, the main switch for the door lights is in the center of the roof and not by the rear view mirror, those are just map reading lights.

It was so dark i couldnt see a thing to notice the 2nd light area.

Many thanks
