New Ctr

Hi All

I did 1,000mls in the new CTR last week and i thought i would pass my thoughts compared to my CTS.

Ride-Rock solid, but ok on the motorway or when hammering it around bends. However at all other times its so hard it makes you speak funny because your being shaken to death!!! CTS (lowered with TTE springs) much better for general use, but it does roll more.

Seats in the CTR are amazing, 100% better than the CTS.

Engine/Driveline-Torque in all gears in and it sounds excellent, gearbox excellent as is the clutch. Better than the CTS except this new CTR hasnt got the lift you get in a normal VTEC or or in the CTS.

Steering is good nicely weighted and short lock to lock, prefer it to my CTS.

Brakes seem very similiar to the CTS i expected really strong stopping power, but they do give that " am i going to stop feeling!"

Looks- i really like it, shame you cant see out the back (you do get used to it though), however you wont see the Police until its to late, CTS much better for being discreet and for visability.

Overall quite impressed, but as Clarkson said on Top Gear the ride is so hard it hurts at times.

Hope you find this useful. :)

yeah, the ctr is good and drives better than CTS. Shame that Toyota is not concentraing on sport cars now. No more T Sports, MR2, Celica, Supra to name a few. Anyone know why toyota are not bringing out sporty models in Europe anymore? Honda, subaru, mitsubishi and Nissan all carrying on with thier sport models!

Hi I did a placement year working in product planning at Toyota GB. The reason for this is the new euro 4 emissions and Toyota's promise of reaching the 140 g/km C02 levels, so they have cut what they can e.g. MR2 & Celica & Previa. (Amazons still remain as there is loads of profit in them for Toyota!!) Toyota has gone a bit hardcore on reducing the range as it has to carry lexus also in its 140 g/km target.

But do not worry things (all be it in a few years time) will sort themselves out...I cant say anything due to contracts blah blah but not all the sports in Toyota has gone forever ;)

I just don’t see why they made the driving experience shi**er than the car it’s replacing, especially since that’s what it became popular for. I guess they did because they could, I’ve already need more FN2’s than I’ve seen CTS’s alltogether.

The new car is more refined (bar the ride) and easier to drive quickly than the old one for normal drivers, anyone who puts their car on 3 wheels on a public road is an idiot. Still like my CTS though as it causes a lot less people in Corsa 1.2's to try and kill themselves racing me!

There are rumours of a 250bhp, turbo-charged Auris in the pipeline..................

I have owned a cts about 3 months now. My 1st opinion for a new car was that ep3 ctr, i test drived it and i liked it very much. But there wasn't any "good" typeR's atm, and then i founded this little bit modified red cts and it had 2 year warranty, and i haven't regret it at all, that i bought this little baby...

I still like the ep3 ctr very much, althought most of the people who drive them are di**heads.. sorry.. :)

Don't like the new ctr...

the ctr is a better car but the cts is a lot cheaper and a bit different. i always get a hint of the green eyed monster in peoples replies when ctr's are mentioned. its simple - they are faster & handle better - get over it! i usually find jelous people and drivers of red cars too be the dickheads!!!!!!

My broher-in law has a new CTR and it is very nice. Much better cabin than my CTS. Obviously slightly quicker and in my eyes looks better. Also make my CtS look slightly dated even though it only 2 1/2 yrs old! Still love my CTS though!

Maybe i'm a *******.. who knows. :)

In Finland they cost about same, but cts is much more cheaper to insure.

Cts is way more reliable than ctr.. For everyday use i would definitely go for cts, but if you only want to have fun you should get a ctr. That's my opinion.

Totally agree CTR may be faster but it does have a bigger engine....... & plus side CTS is cheaper to insure as ^ ^ said & gotta agree with ^ ^ more reliable, also other day my dad was saying Toyota's are more reliable than honda's by reading a article / survey about it from a magazine he subscrbes from Hongkong where there are LOTS of toyota/honda's out there so they would know !!!!
