Quentin Wilson just road tested one in the Sunday Mirror but can't find any other info on one even from Toyota.

It's got 14in alloys, alcantara and leather trim, 87bhp and a 48 per cent retained value after 3 years and 60,000 miles, all for a bargain £7,995 on the road.

Anybody got any info please.

Looks like another "Limited Edition" like the "Black" or the "Blue"

Toyota have always said that they would introduce "New/Revised" models of Aygo on a regular basis to keep the range fresh.

This one seems quite high spec for an Aygo.....................at a bargain price too

hmmmm interesting i may have to upgrade again..lol

how does the retained value bit work then?

Well I can tell that at least the alcantara and leather trim seems classy as there was an Aygo with part leather part alcantara seats and leather gear knob and steering wheel on display here in Helsinki at the Helsinki motor show. It was only labeled Aygo+ with special equipment though and not platinum...

In Germany, and some other countries, there's a Calvin Klein special model called ckIN2U with alcantara & leather available, here's a picture of the interior from the Toyota Germany site.

That 87 bhp power figure is of course most likely a typo...

It's estimated that after three years it'll be worth 48% of its new value;

But what price is that based on? Probably means the dealers are expected to charge 48% of list price for one that's 3 years old, and certainly doesn't mean that if you buy one today you're guaranteed to be able to sell it for 48% of what you paid for it in three years time.

The Platinum was launched on Friday so is all over google now. Only available in Crystal Silver and no air con but undoubtedly will sell well. Think you are right the BHP must be a typo in Wislon's article.

14" alloys? arrghh are they saving 15/16"'s for later models? 14" alloys look awful in my opinion.

been looking at loads of reviews for this on the net, i am confused as it keeps saying the crystal silver is now exclusive to the platinum does that mean its no longer available in the other models or is this just sales jargon?

Posted

Might be Sarah, as both the Black & Blue were exclusive colours also....

Apparently Toyota will continue to do "exclusive" models every 6 months.... I had my money on an Aygo Green...

aaah but the blue and black were not available on the inferior :P :D models but silver was for the plus, and now extinct sport maybe it isnt anymore, i am at Mr T tommorrow i will interigate and see if i can sneak a peak at the platinum too lol

aah aygo green yes - tis already pretty green tho lol would need to be a hybrid plug in version :lol2:

Hi all, I'm new to these boards. I picked up my new Aygo Platinum yesterday and I'm really excited about it. I was told by the garage that the platinum is replacing the Aygo black and this is a limited edition metallic silver, it's different to the Aygo+ silver!

Hello,

My first ever post.... I ordered myself an Aygo Platinum with A/C today - the interior is lovely, I especially liked the leather steering wheel. Should be getting it in a couple of weeks so I'll post photos if anyone wants to see.

Thanks for the welcome Sarah.

I was originally after the Aygo blue myself but there was a long waiting list and the garage were desperate to make a sale in December so they offered me the Platinum. So far I'm really happy with it, it's a fantastic little car, we''ll see come the summer whether I'm missing out on not having the air-con in it! x

you have just made my day - long waiting list for the Aygo Blue (may repeat this a few times haha) any doubt the blue is the superior model :P

am sure the plantinum is lovely and well i always find a window is as good as aircon anyway lol

Yes indeedy - thanks for the welcome.

Its funny, notapplicable, I went in thinking I wanted a Blue too! I fell in love with the interior, but I definitely wanted Air-con and I wasn't sure if it was worth the extra £500 or not. In the end I haggled my way to a good deal and went for the platinum.

I'm trading in a Mini Cooper S as primarily I wanted to save some money but also as I believe the Aygo and its french chums are the best proper car on the road in terms of environmental impact.

Anyway - the money savings certainly working out - I've got £2,500 cash back from my Mini and when I rung to change my insurance they refunded me £53 too!

They are indeed good in that sense. The C1 & 107 petrols come 3rd and 4th in a recent study, but for some reason the aygo was missed off the list. Smart roadster was the best car for the environment, with the smart fortwo in second!

You can have a look at the findings here:

Its interesting to see that the prius isnt in the top ten, it made it to 12th over all....just goes to show what ive been sayin in that hybrids arent the big step forward that they are marketed as.

Oh and the pics of the platinum look great on the inside! Love the leather wheel! I hate the cheapo plastic one on out aygo+

Posted

seems a bit weird that they got 3rd and 4th and no Aygo, given they are the same car underneath the faces. I did read some where that the prius isnt as green as people think, and then list seems to say the same too

thanks for the pics Kingo - not sure am sold on the seats I would have to stroke them ;) but i do like that steering wheel!!

I went to the Aygo website today and they no longer list the black as a special edition model so it looks like this has replaced it, I like this, if they replace blue for the next one surely this will mean they are worth more surely 2nd hand??
