Its easy to get the rails off. Print this and grab your sockets.

Well done on getting a RAV. Just to warn you there is a small hoodlum element of 40+s on this forum who also drive trains/play with trains so mentions rails and somebody will post up photographs of a selection of trains from around the world. You'll learn to ignore these folk, even though they may live in Warrington...?

Hello Bomber, welcome.

Mad House? here? No idea what Anchorman is on about  :D

Just to add to Anchorman's info, I don't know whether it is the case for the 4.3 models but for the 4.2 models, it could sometimes be a pig getting the plastic end caps off the rails, to access the bolts. I think one recommended way was to use a plastic bike tyre level under the side of the cap and lever out slightly.

Think this came for rav4world.com (but don't spend to much time over there, or you'll end up spelling things like colour and neighbour improperly without the 'u' :D ).

If you want to make it look tidy afterwards, you might need the little brackets and rectangular plastic covers that come off when the rails are fitted.

Matfrost was looking for some rails in the post below, don't know whether he ever got them:

Click - Roof Rails

No, I'm not posting any train pictures.

Cheers

There was nowt wrong with Father Ted and he had similar attributes. However, the one you're talking about was Transport Minister and I blame him for wagon loads of wellies going missing. Bothy you haven't got one of secret !Removed! machines that jerry used to transmit codes have you??? I think Chatman is onto something and we might have to come up with a cunning plan to steal it then the americanos can make a film about how they did it

Hahaha

Aye - if ye look at the track record o various governments, they get Royal mail tae use the train; then a switch tae road; then a switch tae rail wi own livery trains; then a switch back and the whole sum of the changes adds up to £billions. Thinking back, I think the cycle is about 7 years. At the moment I think the stuff is between road and plane, with some consolidation yet again between ordinary parcels and letters. The guaranteed service for parcels go road i believe, altho I've no idea where they have the hub now.

Shame - the good old Night Train sorting office could have worked (altho rumours of a collection of Father Teds on-board rather under-mined the credibility/sorting speed.

One good job is being a tech engineer in the automated sorting offices cos folk put £1 coins in envelopes as presents and the coins get left behind as the envelope is accelerated thru the sorting machine....I think they run at 30,000+ items an hour over a distance of 10+metres - that'll give Fuj something to do tonight wi his slide rule. Same happens wi keys etc. The link for this patter is of course rails.

Hi Bob

I will do. They are the silver ones not the black. I would to take them off but I am not very handy with a socket set, so a bit reluctant. I will make a few enquiries regarding the plastic inserts required to cover the bolt holes and I will let you know.

Thanks bomber
