Messed Up Air Con / Heater ?

Hi guys

ive resently bought a 1993 hilux ssr-x turbo , last night on the way home there was a funny smell ( slightly toxicy ) and my windows became steamed up badly , today i turned the heater on and the same smell was there but also , what looked like smoke ( but didnt smell like smoke ) came from the vents , not a lot but enough to notice , the windows beame misty and greasy very quickly , ???

i have no idea what it could be as i am a novice surf owner !

can anyone help.

sounds like it could well be a leaky heater matrix.

It's repairable/doable, but a fairly big job on most vehicles - I'm assuming the surf will be a similar chore !

try some liquid rad weld in for now just to stop the liquid oozing into the cab . or join the 2 hoses in the engine bay together with a bit copper pipe and jubilee clips.

thanks man , does this sound like a matrix issue then with the smell and smoke problem ?

i was worried it may have been an aircon problem ,

ill give rad weld a try ?

its steam not smoke , the smell is glycerine in the coolant ( anti - freezing agent )

thanks man , i looked and the foot well was damp , ill call those guys and get a quote , do you know if they fit them as i guess its pretty expensive ?

ill try and use the rad weld as a temp cure .

it's one of those jobs that you don't want to happen, but it would have been better if it had happened in the summer !
