Electric Aerial Failing

On my gen 6 st202 the electric aerial has decided it won't fully extend or conversely retract itself with out either pulling it up to its full height or by starting to push it in. I tried plenty of wd40 numerous times but that doesn't help, it's not lack of lubrication. I've had the inside of the boot out to expose the workings of the aerial but it doesn't appear to be very accessible. Can i just get a new aerial and fit that to the existing motor and bits. If so is there a certain type of aerial and how do i fit that to the motor and bits, do i need to take it all out and how do you unscrew the erail from the rear quarter panel. It's one of those jobs that looks like as soon as you know the knack of doing it it will be easy but can't see how to do it. Any help would be appreciated.

Dealer part and they supply and fit for something like £40 . so i hear ??

its inside the motor part you need to be , apparently there is a small plastic jog wheel that gets bits of crap on it , this stops the up and down movement.
