Great!! :D

Thats what Haynes say is the correct setting, but on reading threads here and there. Some have suggested 8 Degrees, others 11.. Even found one where they thought the timing marks were untrue, by 3 degrees. I.e. When set at 10, by the scale. Actually gave 13!!

Have you tried anything other than 10?

At 10 Degrees BTDC, it seems too advance. i'm finding that i cant get the thing to run rich enough, even on max adjustment, so was thinking.. What if i !Removed! a little..?

Thanks again,

Brad

This does supprise me with Toyota tech data ...hmmm

Have you asked your local 'Toyota dealer - service dept etc'?

if not helpful I could ask my local one as they ARE (and some are older and remember 80's stuff etc.).

:o :o :o

Bl00dy h3ll !!!

However ... in the 80's there used to be quite an obsesion with certain elements of the motor trade setting up doing a 'crypton tune' but trouble was it used to involve setting the car up to 'original manufacturer settings' thus cars that had (understandbly) worn components and had gradual wear over the years would actually be running worse afterwards!

Yeah! To be sure, all my ignition parts are good(distributer, coilpack, sparkplugs, leads, ignitor). Just recently had a problem where the tacho would go mad and then; ECU light(Code3,ignition). Followed by complete failure to run. Ran like it was out of fuel. Turned out to be a broken wire, from the coil to ignitor!!

However, when i set up a pals Nova. It ran so rough, because of worn parts(distributer and rotor). We ended up having to set at appx 5 degrees advance of the recommended, just to make the thing driveable!! Nonetheless, after the air filter, and ignition parts were changed. She runs like a dream on stock advance. Just goes to show how much difference it makes
