Clutch Going

after two years of trouble free motoring (ok apart from a sticky rear caliper) my gen 6 st202 is developing all kinds of problems! With been through the pulling to the left which has been narrowed down to the toyo proxes tires and that they weren't a set of 4, it's got better with wear and is liveable with. I've mentioned the electrical aerial on another thread and for £40 mr T will fix that so i've been told. The trip counter has stopped working, it either doesn't go round or it goes round in chunks of a hundread miles, i.e. 111, 222, 333, etc but to be honest not too bothered with that, the odometer works fine.

More importantly the clutch appears to be now slipping when it's 'under pressure'. I.e. if i take it to the red line in 1st and change quickly to 2nd and put foot back to floor and same with 2nd to 3rd. The revs rise with clutch pedal fully returned before it bites and goes again. Under normal driving it's fine and you wouldn't think any issues. I assume this is a warning that the clutch is on its way out. So two questions, am i right and b how much does it cost?, think i'd rather take it to Mr T as don't know any garages well enough to trust in my area (watford). Plus can get mr T to fix the aerial at the same time!

Any words of wisdom greatly received!

thanks

I've just had my slipping clutch replaced on my Gen 6 - it cost around £300 all-in from a local garage - the difference is amazing - fast acceleration, smooth operation, everything as it should be - my plates gradually worn down over the months until there was virtually no friction left - virtually down to the rivets apparently - yours sounds as if it's begining to wear down - you might get another 3 months out of it, but if you can get the budget together it's well worth getting the clutch replaced.

if you adjust the rod under the clutch pedal you will get a good few more 1000 miles out of it.

how's that then? it's slipping because the clutch plates are worn out surely?
