Hi Guys,

got a prob, our Hilux Pickup at work is making a whirring noise when i revv it while stationary and all the instrument lights are on. i dont think its the engine, sounds more from the cooling fan at front.

its fine at idle but as soon as i revv it, it starts whiring, the sound doesnt go up and down either...it gets louder as i rev higher and higher it gets less as i take my foot off the accelerator.

its meant to do that .

its not an electric fan that kicks in when the engines hot , it speeds up and slows with the engine.

only noise you may hear whirring could be the alternator bearings.

this is a wayyy louder whirring noise, alternator was checked and bearings were failed and the rotor hit the stator inside and smashed it all upp. but thanks for your reply

Take the fan belt off and run it without the belt for a few seconds, does it still do it?

Kingo
