After reading about all the DMF failures on the D4D and seeing how some could leave you stranded sometimes by the sound of it in a possible dangerous situation (let me pull out here oops!) When they go. I was thinking why hasn't VOSA looked into this and pushed Toyota into a proper recall on these parts. I am sure in the USA the agency would have pushed them into acting by now. So I contacted VOSA and had the following response. I have the attachments and is it worth me posting these and anyone who has had a failure send them in, even maybe the avensis guys. It might provoke something if they get enough replies at least just to look into the issue. I must admit it’s always at the back of my mind now when I drive the rav. Apologies if anyone has already gone down this route. Let me know if the club thinks its worth perusing.

is there something aboot 5 door diesels that no even the governingment will let on? Or, is it jist that diesel engine technology has gone way past its capability and sustainability.

See the number o poor souls whit have posted tae this site oer their whoes wi the dieselly engined oil burner an its propensity tae fk up the flywheel and drive train....

So, cumon. rather than gies yer 'cost of miles per gallon/litre' whens ye gain tae build in the cost o maintenance???? Ye ken wha ye are!!! Lets get real figures. An its no jist 10p per mile.

Admit it - the supposed diesel engine whit burns oil is noisy - and smelly. tae boost performance an mak it mair acceptable tae puir gullible people, companies whit manufacture cars have introduced unfit-fur-purpose technology. Toyota need tae accept responsibility if it wants tae preserve image. An ah have a masters when it comes tae marketing image.... T is selling RAVs oan the image o the 4.1 !

Tae pay £2000 fur a fancy flywheel is corrupt and a fraud. An this crosses into many ither manufacturers o oily engines. If ye git yer heids the gither ye cuid challenge this wan face oan tae the governingment. Ford/Toyota etc....all at fault.

Ahm no saying that peeps whit buy dieselly oily burners at at fawt, an hae 5 doors. Ahm jist saying that such gullible peeps need saving.
