Hi All Some May Already Know Me

Hello to everyone, I may be known by a few of you already from the JAP show, JAE or a number of events I can be found at over the years.

Others may know me through dealings and may have purchased from me in the past.

Still others might know me from radio or TV, I have a regular radio show and have popped up on Channel 4 as a presenter, Men and motors, the New show Rimz (it's a car show) or an interview or 2 I have done for auto racing or Drifting.

I have joined mainly because I am a genuine Toyota enthusiast.

I have owned several and currently have a Spacecruiser and a Celica in the Past I have had a Corona, Corolla,Tercel, a Crown and a Cressida.

They have always been the most reliable bit's of kit.

While I have owned and have a passion for the classics.

I have been privilaged enough to own a 1970 Hemi Cuda, 1948 Packard, 2 1967 mustangs, 1967 Bonneville, 1975 Olds Starfire, and a few others. My favourite car of all time will shock you my 1981 Corolla.

I bought it off my dad after it had been from California to Alaska and back twice, once a year every year to Canada.

I got it for $100 it had 117,000 miles on it.

I use to to commute 65miles one way to work everyday for 3 years plus lots of other driving I racked up another 242,000 miles on it when I grudgingly sold it with 359,000 miles with little work ever being done and doing all the work myself.

The guy I sold it to I spoke to about 2 years ago and he is still driving it everyday and it's just about to pass 700,000miles.

So maybe hit it's million by now.

My Space cruiser we bought out of need becuase I haul 4 Teen age kids about and go out and pick up engines and transmissions, the occasional cord of wood.

in 3 years it has cost me £250 in repairs

It has out lasted 3 Fords my wifes Fiesta, her Escort, and the Sierra we had when we got the Van.

Sadly it was stolen 2 weeks ago. It was like losing a member of the Family.

Someone stole your hiace? They should be shot!

A big warm welcome to the Toc, and congrats on finally reaching the online community of spiritual converts to 'The way of Almighty and immortal Corolla'.

No one would beleive it. Less they have experienced the Nirvarna that is Corolla ownership..

Beware the evil sunroof rust. Great show, btw. :toast:

Hi and Hello...you so do have nice collection of cars....... the best being the Celica imo!!!

I dont have any of the collection anymore just the Space cruiser (stolen 2 weeks ago)

And the Celica A lovely Gen 5 3SGE with minor mods running 168bhp

Not to shabby for a 15 year old car with 200,000+ miles on it.

Needs a bit of TLC lately.

I got into cars I think shortly after being a sperm. I have always loved them I had a mad collection of Hot wheels and matchbox as a very little kid 3-4 years old.

Worked on my first engine with my stepdad at nine helped him tare down and rebuild a Jag XJ12 for a ring and Valve job.

Did my first solo trans rebuild on an auto box by 10.

Only occassionaly had money so would buy claped out old bangers and fix them.

So passionate about wanting a drag car at 16 I went to Alaska and worked on a fishing boat through winter to buy my Cuda

It was pristine 34,000 original miles sitting in a barn under bales of hay.

426 cu in engine that stock out of the factory in 1970 on crap US fuel produced 425bhp and 736ftlb torque

Made a few tweeks to it and it was putting power to ground at just shy 800bhp and 1300ftlb torque.

Spent all my money and time tuning and racing up at Baylands raceway near San Fransisco.

But Nothing has served me so well as my Space Cruiser, Celica or Corolla I have had anyone of these longer then any other 2 cars I owned.

The Cuda in the pic isn't mine but same year same engine.

Mine had big nasty Mag wheels on the back and it was gold which I hated and never got resprayed.

The best reason in the world

Welcome to the club

Les

Well since moving to the UK I have turned Japanese and since Toyota is what I know best I have gone nuts for them.

I am involved in a few Supra's

This one made it to 1286 bhp with 923ftlb torque.

It never really opened up at the Pod the first run was just to feel it out and it was 12.73@104mph

the second we took it to 5000 rpm that was 11.13@120 mph

the third was up to 6500 RPM and was low 10's

So the forth what the hell give it some leggs and turn on the NOS

The machine shop had not put in the titanium Valve retainers in a last minute head swap 4 days before the race.

Well it was sent over because the main head was not quite right so at the last minute swapped everything over to a stock head sent the 2 into the mc shop and at first one of the Valves was bent clearly to the naked eye bent.

so sent it back and they put in standard retainers not Titanium race retainers

So on the forth run the pre spool booster worked perfect the launch was perfect 60 feet 100 feet all taxt book.

So should have been a mid to low 8's run right?

No chance the intake valve in the 3rd cylinder just fell out of course the piston smacked it good and hard blew the connecting rod apart shooting bits of rod through both sides of the block. still finished with a 16.4 in a ball of flames from half way down the track.

But it's a Toyota that fact and a little Molyslip and it was driven back to the pit.

Shut it off to check the damage and sure enough it started up first try with no oil and 3inch by 4 inch holes in both sides of the block.

That mc shop got a big ear full Monday morning.

Pulled the valve cover off 3 more retainers were lose and none were titanium.

hi and welcome buddy.

Well we scavenged all the usable parts the plenum intake turbo header and loads of other bits were transferred over to a 3.4 litre engine along with the 1000cc injectors to a Sup that was pushing 800bhp now after mapping it is 1002bhp

The mean green machine has just gone over to the dark side and is getting a small block V8 4 bolt main so you can guess what that is, taking the wimpy 750cfm carb off the top and dropping in a 1 or a pair of 1100cfm predator carbs with a Weyland blower bhp should be around 7-800 but the zen of torque will be there going for around 1400.

Yes we know we will snap a few drive lines.

You know the funny thing the car was still street legal taxed Mot'd and insured up to September when it was mapped in at 968bhp it is so crazy now it is only meant to go in a straight line very fast.

With a 5 gallon fuel tank it won't go very far but it gets there damn fast.

The goal with the old engine was low 7's maybe mid 6's ambitious but achievable.

I love this stuff been around it since I was 15.

got petrol in my veins and a piston for a heart.

ouch that's one quick car.

know what you mean about straight line only. the rolla is fully road legal and is driven on the road regularly but its a hell of a handful at times.

im aiming for low 11's next year, not quite as awesome as yours but mine is still FWD. best to date is 12.1@122 although massive wheelspin in second didnt help.

think i've been round motors since i was an embryo, done all the work on the rolla my self
