I bought a D4d in June this year and it has been great. It is a great wee car to own.

You don't HAVE to put the clutch in, it's just to stop the engine dragging the gearbox round when trying to start the car.

Yes you do (on the new Yaris)

Its part of the keyless entry system. It also stops you from starting the car while it’s still in gear.

Nothing to do with keyless entry. Normal locks on my car but I still have to depress the clutch to start it!

It is! It’s a one size fits all situation.

It’s cheaper have the same system on all cars than having a different system on the lower models.

You will also notice you have a blank plastic cover where the Start/Stop button goes (or would go). They haven’t changed the dash either (cost) even though you have a key version.

The higher up the range you go the more the blanks for the extras are filled

Hi

It's a good idea in any car to start it with the clutch down.

Two reasons

One Less strain on the engine when you start up

Two Stops you leaving it in gear and kangaroo hopping into the car park wall

I have a new Yaris SR with the keyless Ignition.

I just leave car in first gear, jump in foot down on clutch hit start button and pull away. B)

I love the car but am annoyed by some minor problems.

Car goes in for it's 600 mile check, so will point out the issues at the time.

Clonk every time the clutch goes down

Something loose and knocking in the driver’s seat

Front wiper on flick wipe does not always park correctly

Rear seat belt mounts for central passenger & LH passenger wrong way round

Brakes grinding at low speed

It's my first Toyota and I love it but the build quality is not up to what I had expected.
