Hello Antony,

Been looking to see what info I might have on 2002 model cig lighter and power outlet feeds and relays. Strangely I don't seem to have much. On the face lifted model (2004 MY onwards?), looks like cig lighter is supplied straight off the acc switch and the other power outlets via a relay, with the coil energised obviously by the ACC switch. 2002 MY may well be the same, but I don't know.

Anyway, to cut a long story short your best bet may well be to bring a fused permanent Battery feed straight from the Battery to one of the existing power sockets and remove and insulate the existing supply to it, or just bring a fused permanent Battery feed to whatever it is that needs it and not use the power outlets.

I can dream up other schemes, but it gets messy with switches and/or diodes.

Cheers

THANKS FOR INFO,

i thought about the straight Battery feed but have been unsucessful in finding a path in which to feed the cable through the bulkhead, and was trying to avoid striping half the dash etc out, if the power outlets are controlled by a relay , the relay would be switching a Battery positive and hence i could remove the relay and put a bridging link in ? where would these relays be situated in the car ?

i could , if i knew where these relays are situated , check this out with a multimeter ,

many thanks

Have a look at page 21 here;

http://techdoc.toyota-europe.com/aimupload...57-X0564-00.pdf

It shows how to feed the wire through the bulkhead to pick up similar fused feeds for a 12S socket.

There are other feeds kicking about but be sure not to draw off something sensitive. You may regret it if you fry one of the ECUs.

Regards

Ok, I've had another look through the info I have. Must have missed this the first time. This might be it. No guarantees, you'll have to try it.

This is the driver's side junction box. I believe it is located by the door, probably in front of your knees behind the trim. It's possible that relay D is the one. This was taken from LHD info, so it's also possible that it is actually located on the passenger side for RHD.

Hope that helps - best I can do.
