Avensis 98 1.8 Gs Ignition Problems

Hello

I am having ingnition problems on my avensis. The car does not start if i turn the key slowly. It only starts if i turn the key quickly. Has anybody else had this problem?

To makwana, I got to say I never heard the like before. Just a suggestion have you had you steering column cowlings off, make sure you have no loose connections at back of switch. Not entirely familiar from memory with rear of switch, if it has a detachable ring piece at base of ign switch might be worth seeing if it comes away from metal body of switch. If it is removable you should have some sort of slot, that bottom of ign barrel fits into, try turning slot with your key whilst keeping key next to your ign pick up, round unit that fits over top of ignition unit. That's an odd one , let me know how you get on.

I has this problem mate, you need a new ignition switch it's the black box at the back of the barrel where the pin goes into it, iirc it doesn't cost too much.

Thanks buddy.. that is what i have also been told too. Your help and reasurance is greatly appreciated otherwise i know i would have changed other things and still no luck!
