Auxillary Belt Noise

I have a 2003 Celica T-Sport, and when i start up the car i seem to have excessive noise coming from what i think to be the auxillary belt system - possibly on of the pulley bearings which need lubricating. Has anyone else had this problem?

The Toyota Dealership are suggesting to me that it is fan belt noise, but this wasn't coming from the fan belt, it is coming more from the right hand side of the engine.

Any ideas what it could be?

All,

I've had a browse through the posts on this forum, and it would appear that a lot of you seem to be having a similar problem with your Celica to what i am experiencing, and it would suggest that i need to change the Axuillary/Fan Belt.

However, the Toyota Dealership suggested i change the belt and tensioner at a cost to me of £300!! I think i'll have a go at doing it myself for £15!

i have a vvti 140 and i had that problem. i got the Aux belt changed for 50 quid at local garage, put 3K on the new belt and there are no problems at all. it used to sqeek awhen the engine was cold and go away once it heated up.

there are guides out there to do it on the vvti 140 engine:
