Avensis Verso: Replacing The Stereo

Hi,

I have an 2002 Avensis Verso (german) and I need to replace the stereo. According to manuals from http://techdoc.toyota-europe.com on how to change/add the stereo,

I should be able to pull out the top storage box (called the "upper cluster" in that manual). However, it won't budge! Tried to use a small screwdriver at the back and bending but that didn't help either.

Anyone who has a clue on how to do this?
