my car is due her 40k service, got her booked in next week. as the brake fluid is to be changed i was wondering if anyone had splashed out on some decent brake fluid and if they noticed any difference?

come on lads - i'm gonne put some 5.1 in - any difference in brands? motul perhaps or alternative?

i went friday to buy fluids as she in for a service tomorrow. put sime dot5.1 on the counter and me mate at the parts shop asked if the car was meant to have dot5.1. as its not meant to have he advised against it - he has seen a lot of people upgrade the brake fluid and the seals in the caliper go - got some dot4!!

Dot 3, 4 and 5.1 are okay. If you put DOT 5 in then it will trash the seals.

I don't think the actual brake fluid makes much difference, its just making sure its clean that does the business.
