Turbocharging My Yaris

Vitz2001

Hi guys I am a new toyota owner.

This year I bought a Vitz(Yaris) Rs year 2001 1.3L. I wish to increase performance to 133bhp or above and I am a bit confused what to do.

I tought to install a glanza engine 1.3L turbo on it and I wish if any of you know what things I must be aware off before commiting this upgrade ex: mounting, fuel pump and any other things I must do to work.

Another guy told me to upgrade the pistons to forged ones and upgrade my own vvti engine.

I don't know what to do, at least I don't know which method to go for. I appreciate if you have any knowledge tips about this type of modification and post in detail your suggestions. Thanks and happy new year to all (may be also for me )

hi,

there are HKS kits for bolt on turbo for the vitz, and you can leave the engine standard, but not boosting the turbo,or else upgrade engine and you can boost.

or else buy a glanza :) not a yaris for pure power

btw hi i'm also maltese :)

envyperformance.com has got it...its quite expensive, for me its not worth doing it.. a glanza engine gives more performance than the yaris..

Regarding the Greddy bolt on turbo kit on the 1.3L is just in a few words "fit and drive" ?

Today I just talked to the mech and he said that probably the engine will work with 6psi turbo, can anyone confirm this? If not do you guys know how much boost the con rods and stock pistons can hold?

Thanks

Anybody knows if the 4EFTE (13L Starlet Glanza Turbo) will fit in my yaris? And what about the shafts and mountings? Is it worth more to swap or to upgrade my engine 2NZ-FE?

Please help guys

Not worth doing mate, it will fit but just buy a glanza turbo!

Many people said this to me my friend. The poblem is I like more the yaris than the glanza shape and not thinking of selling the car. What you guys suggest? What are the rough expenses I should realize I have to put in this project?

Vitz RS is a 1.5 litre, not a 1.3 litre. What do you have?

Buy Glanza, tune Glanza, use Vitz as a daily and Glanza as a weekly ;)

Company once quoted me £3000 all in with 90 day warranty!

But then you will have to uprate brakes/suspension dude!

Yes I own a Vitz RS 1.3L not turbo though. I don't afford two cars at the same time, I just want to increase some performance on the only one I own :)

To SR kid - My car owns disbrakes on each wheel since it's RS and till a certain bhp the brakes are still good. Regarding suspension... I don't know exactly but since the swap is with a 1.3L to a 1.3L turbo will not make that much difference in weight.

you can do everything as long as you've got money...but for spending that amount of money (which is alot) to upgrade the engine it's not worth for maybe a 30-50bhp more... yaris engines they don't get alot of power when tuned as a glanza engine does.. so you think of that :)

btw nice seeing a few Maltese in here...i'm from malta also
