Running absolutely fine.

Time for a service. Went for plugs first. Changed plugs, started the car, fine.

This morning tried to start, nothing at all, turns over but doesn't even cough. took new plugs out, wet and 'petroly', put old plugs back in, same problem, doesn't fire at all.

Any ideas folks? :(

Sounds like it must be ignition problem. Doubt it's the plugs themselves or the leads to the plugs because unlikely that all four would be faulty (unless you got the order wrong, but the fact that it started after you changed the plugs the first time rules that out). Therefore most likely to be the main HT lead if you have one, or some component in that part of the ignition which you may have disturbed while changing the plugs.

When you started the car to test the plugs did you start it and let it run for a bit or start it and just stop it again?? I had the same thing (ish) not long back when i moved my car onto the driveway only ran for half a mnute and then stopped it.

It flooded because, especially when its cold the car overfuels to ease starting ( think choke but different ), just crank it for a bit untill it starts trying a wee bit and then just lightly feather the throttle to bring the beast coughing into life lol. Will run like a bag of spanners for a while untill its sorted itself out.

Hope this helps :D

Afterthought, did you check the plugs were gapped up correctly, i bought some denso ones and they were supposedly pre gapped for my car but they were well out..

Apologies for not replying sooner.

T_U_T-S you were spot on mate. When I read your post it reminded me of a couple of years ago when the wife's Micra wouldn't start. I tried various things and couldn't get it to fire. Admitting defeat I called the AA/RAC (can't remember). The fella came an hour later and turned the key for a few seconds, then asked, "did you start it for a very short period of time and switch it off again?", "yes, it was too close to the garage door and it's bin day" replies the missus, AA/RAC man then floors the throttle, turns the key and with a puff of grey smoke the little Nissan is back in business. "happens all the time these days" he said with a hint of a 'not another !Removed! one' in his voice.

So back to the Yaris, went outside, floored pedal, turned key, puff of smoke, broom broom.

Cheers fella.

I refer the honourable gentleman to the answer I gave earlier.
