Hello,

New member here.

I'm wondering how difficult it is to replace the standard stereo gear in a Yaris with an aftermarket single din radio/cd player? Has anyone done this? Does the Yaris have tweeters or tweeter grills?

Thanks.

I have replaced the factory stereo with a sorted Pioneer DEH8400 MP, fitted it in the tray below the orginal. To get to that area of the dash is a right ****! pull off the knobs from the heating, air directors and fan speed. Around the outside middle air vents you can see that there is a break in the dash, at about 2 o'clock on the right and about 11 on the left there are clips, so stick in a fork type object and lever it gentle, with any luck it should pop off... now pull at the sides of the upper dash, there is a screw under the immobilser light undo that. Now check for any other screws which seem to attach the lower central dash. Reach round the back and disconnect all connetors for the factory fitted unit. remove lower dash. You wont need the fitting brace which came with the unit, remove the plastic tray and replace with new head unit. As you probably know you need a convertor from toyota to standard din. Halfords sell them, but they say they are not compatiable with yaris's, the boggy standard toyota one should fit!

Hope this has been some use to you!

i had a pioneer 6400 fitted as well, the guy replied described it in details already!! i managed to find a guy who has been fitting stereos at the age of 12. when he first heard about my yaris, he was afraid to do it because it was alot of trouble. Then i actually took my car to him, he changed his mind as coz he found a way to do it.

this guy i found did it in 30 minutes with a little bit of custom job. after he has taken the original black box out, he had to scrap the inside of bracket to order for the stereo to fit. it cost me only £50 for labour.

Bassjunkies was unable to help as they are useless, they suggested that i should fit the back of the CD player in the glovebox or under the seat and the face of the player on the sun blind (just next to the back mirror) and it will approx cost me about £250 and facing get it nicked coz it wont be a face off anymore when it fits on top.

some experience talking to bassjunkies!!!
