Help Please Adjustable Clutch ?

Hi guys and girls, I hope you can help.

Really sad :( as I brought a corolla verso 2002 (manual) last week as a pressie for my family and on xmas day I noticed over reving when driving - I dont know much about cars does anyone out there ??

Do these cars have adjustable clutches. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

The clutch on these is hydraulic and self adjusts I'm afraid, is it a petrol or diesel model you have?

Has it perhaps stood idle for a time before you bought it?

If that's a possibility, don't rush into changing the clutch unless the problem is very bad. I had similar on my MR2 when I first bought it and it disappeared after a few good drives. I have since had a new clutch, but only two years later than the original problem.
