Just been to wash my car at the local bp garage, i decided to use the jetwash/foam brush that gives the option of;

low rinse , high power rinse , foam rinse , wax , hot foam with the brush and couple more options.

anyways , the stupid brush has left loads of scratches in my car and im realy p'd off , they dont look deep but when you are up close to the car they is soo many you cant even think about counting them.

why does it always happen to me :ffs: anyone know if i could blame the garage ?/

i'm pretty sure there will be a sign up saying that you use the wash at your own risk, thus ruling out any possible responsibility from the garage.

They may say that, but I doubt that has much standing in law. If you can prove that the damage is the fault of the equipment, then I think you could claim against them, but that would be difficult to prove and probably more trouble than its worth for a few scratches.

Car washes of any kind or notorious for creating scratches; if you had a brush at home for cleaning your car you'd make sure it never touched the ground, and would probably have a separate one for the wheels and the main body; but in a car wash you have no idea how the brush was treated before you used it.

If you're going to use a car wash you have to either get used to scratches, or else learn how to remove them. Personally I couldn't do the former, and find that scratch removal is more difficult than washing the car myself, so I never use a car wash of any type. Ever.

i used a drive through car wash with my old car almost every week and never had a single ploblem no scratches nothing, as my rolla has a spoiler i decided to use the jet wash and brush as it would be more safe, as i found out it wasnt a good idea.

now i know to keep away from both drive through and manual jet wash and just stick to the bucket and sponge :(

unfortunately you have learned the hard way. invest in a decent pressure washer - i know £300 is alot in one go but they soon pay for themselves and know more nasty scratches. if i have to use a jet wash at the garage when im away somewhere i buy a bucket n sponge and only use the jetwash.

i had a similer incident a couple of years ago at a Shell garae,i went in the shop straight away and they took my details.

A couple of weeks later i had a letter from a solicitor on behalf of the garage asking how and why i was holding the garage to blame and how i would prove this in a court of law? :blink:

i just gave up any hope of getting anything after reading the letter and have never been back to that garage andnow always wash my car myself.

If you seriously want to take good care of your car/paintwork take a look at this site! www.detailingworld.com This site will provide you with all the products and iformation you could need to restore and protect your pride and joy.

By the way i don't work for them(although reading my post you may think so) however in the short time i have been a member i have learnt enough to know that i would never let anyone wash my car again except me or somebody from this forum.

Bucket and sponge is the way to go.....both of my Toyota's never went near a car wash for this very reason plus I was worried about bits breaking off as it went through.
