Avensis Wheel Bearing

Hey

I will try to explain the problem which I have got with my car. I’m in Poland now and I did drive almost 2000km to get here. I still have to get back to UK.I did notice that I can hear death sound on front wheels on right side. I went to a mechanic and he said, this is wheel bearing. So I went to another car mechanic and he had a test drive in my car and he said this is „semi - axis support bearing" in right front wheel. So than I went to Toyota dealer and after short faultfinding they said this is "semi - axis support bearing" and also something in automatic gearbox. But Toyota told me also that the sound in gearbox might be transferred from right wheel, so first I should change semi - axis support bearing" .Now, I’m not sure if this name is correct "semi - axis support bearing" as I understand it is different than wheel bearing?

And another problem is that I can not repair here because lack of time, to get spare part take about 3 days but I have to get back to UK at 5 of January. The question is, Can I drive to UK with this problem? I would like to solve this in UK…

Please anybody knows what to do?

Wojciech

"semi - axis support bearing" - could they mean a "constant velocity joint?" Or CV joint?

Faults like either the CV Joint or wheel bearing generally begin by making a noise when turning a tight corner. It is only when the wear is extreme to hear a fault when driving on straight roads.

I would think that if the noise is only heard when cornering you should be OK to drive back to the UK. You won't cause other problems with your car by delaying the repair.

Hi Gazza1286,

It looks like you right about this name.I did translate this myself so I was concern. What they told me is that this problem is not with wheel bearin only with probably"cv joint [bearing] or something like this" as you said. Thanks for answer.I can hear it when I drive stright it.
