Problem - Alarm,c/l. Short Circuit?

Hiya folks,

(Wasnt sure where to put this so I just stuck it on general discussions.)

I have a problem with my eletrics lately.. they all could be linked to the same problem but I have no clue, I was wondering if anyone could help or has similar situation that they could relate it with.

Problem 1)

When i have my sidelights on and lock the car the sides dimmers alot (half as bright?) while the alarm is being switched on/off, which in turn leaves me thinking theres a semi short somewhere in the route of the alarm/central locking system.

I've installed boot lights using directly from the Battery but that doesnt dimmer when the alarm is switched on/off so that rules out Battery low problem.

Problem 2)

Occationally (once/twice a month?) when the car is locked for a few hours then wanting to open it again with the remote all the car does is have the oil like dimmer on then dimmer off again everytime i try to lock/unlock it.

~ I originally thought 'ah must be a short in the speedo' but i've opened that up and there doesnt seem to have any visual or burnt smells to tell me thats the case.

~ I can hear the central locking trying to work itself but it seems to not have enough power to tick over.

~ Dont know if this is anything to do with it but i recently installed my new HU so i thought i'd disconnect that to see if that was the problem, it didnt work still but when i connected back in the car beeped at me, again coming from the central locking module (located right of the speedo).

This then leaves me with a car which i can get into but cant move otherwise the immoblisor will go off. (Very annoying)

Problem 3)

Only ever happened twice thankfully... When i put dipped beams on (1st time) the car cut completely out for a split second engine management light, handbrake and possibly oil light came on then cut back into life again. The HU was resetted and i was going uphill doing 70 at the time. (2nd time) only HU resetted none of the above was done.

The only clue i've got is probably the HU on the fault, either installation or otherwise but the problem 1 and 2 has happened before my new HU

I apologies for it being a bit lengthy! Thanks for your time!
