RAV 4 :toast:

Went to the alamo depot to collect my pre booked car, they guy said how many of you are there, 4, how many cases, 4, it's going to be tight you might want to upgrade, i'll see what I can find.

2 minutes later he comes back with a RAV 4, hows this, do you know how to drive it, I laughed and told him I have one of these already :yahoo:

There was one diference though, this one was about 2 feet longer than mine, I know it was a newer model, mine is an 05, I presume this was an 07, is the US Rav a completely different car from the european one

I was tempted to rent one of these instead but though it might be a little small for our needs  Americans, how big can we make it

wack..... the American version is bigger than the European one as they get 7 seat version and also a V6 as well. We have the Diesel versions and also the T180 (which would leave there V6 for dead) most of them are autos as well....where as we have the "stick shift" as they say....

Where those your tyre marks leaving the carpark as well

It was a petrol auto sport and went quite well so it may have been a V6, it felt more modern than my 05 but then I suppose it's a 5 year newer design than mine,it was a softer ride than my XT5, I didn't get to test the cornering as the only corner I went round was the one into the hotel car park :D only thing that surprised me was a rust spot the size of a 5p piece near the filler cap, US cars must get less rustproofing than eu ones as mine has a few chips on it but not one rust spot anywhere, this was probably an 06/07 model with 22k on the clock. sorry didn't think to take any pictures of it, awful colour, off white :o

The distances americans have to drive were a bit mind boggling, I was speaking to a guy in Epcot who'd driven down from Ohio for 4 days in Disney World, round trip 1900 miles  he and his wife did ithe 950 mile drive down in 15 hours, I asked him if there were any other options, he said there was no real rail network near where he lived, flying was too expensive as the whole round trip only cost $200 in gas.

A guy in a gas station made a comment on petrol prices in the UK, I hear it's about $10-$11 a gallon, jees that's expensive, my reply, yes I suppose it is but I don't have to worry about paying the bill if I break my leg or selling my house if I get cancer.

I don't like paying £5 a gallon for fuel but I prefer it to no NHS in case I need them.

I found driving in the US easy but the speed limits  they change so often, town was 20-45, freeways 45-65, toll roads 55-70 with 5mph increments in between, you had to watch them like a hawk or the Sheriff would be after you.
