Starting Noise

Hi all,

First of all happy new year and hope you all had a brill christmas and new year

Just wondering if any of you had come across a strange noise when starting the TS from cold.

As you turn the key to start and the usual enginge starting noise begins, just as the engine ticks over there is this almost grinding noise that happens. It stops as soon as i release the key and the engine starts normal.

Is this indicating a sticky start motor? Or whatever it is, could someone shed some light?

Cheers!

Mine's doing this too - I tend to find if stop turning the key just as you know its going to start it starts without grinding - its a fine art!

How much is a new starter motor?

I have tried to time the ignition key turn just like StheUNT did to no avail, but i think it does help sometimes?

AE102- I don't understand how that could help!!! But i will try it.

if you press the clutch down on starting there is less load on the starter motor - i thought everyone did it.
