Nothing worth mentioning up here either, couple of inches of wet slush for first 3 miles this morning then just great big puddles.

Had my 3 DOOR 2 SEAT (took out back seats and bolted in a platform for the dog basket for camping in the summer and it's still there!) PETROL GSX for 18 months now and still haven't been able to find out if the Wrangler AT/R's are any good in deep snow.

Still time yet.

What size tyre are you running? 215/70 x 16 ??

I was expecting snow on the Netherley Road this morning but, as you say, just water (and muckle lakes of it across the road).

Regarding tyres, the Wranglers that came standard on my old Freelander were fine in the snow - as were the Synchrones I eventually replaced them with. And both wore well - the Wranglers were changed at 48k miles with 2mm; the Synchrones currently have 4/5mm, having done 54k miles (my daughter now has it, in Peterhead).

Aye, 215/70 x 16 on standard steel rims at the moment - I've got a set of alloys waiting refurbishing for summer use although the wranglers have been on since last September - about 15,000 miles ago.

Completely off the ball, but I watched the coverage of the lorry which slipped down the hill to block a railway crossing in Perth. 25,000 red potatoes were killed. The lorry driver and his son were ok as they'd vacated the lorry as it couldnae move due to black ice.

The train driver wis driving what I saw was a Deltic style diesel electric engine with no wagons or carriages. The poor driver looks as if he's had a bad time, judging from the film of the front cab, but as they said on TV, had it been the next train - a much lighter overnight sleeper then things will have been much worse. The Deltic was towed away from the scene intact apart from the drivers cabin damage.... hope the driver gets better soon.
