Corolla Advice

Hi,

I have been driving Toyotas for about seven years now and have been very pleased with every one so far. I am currently driving an 05 Avensis T3-X 1.8 Unleaded. When I purchased the car I was doing a lot more mileage than I am now (I was averaging 15-20000 a year) but my needs have now changed considerably and with the new year I am re-evaluating all my expenditure and finances.

Due to this and the fact I'm changing jobs to a location a lot closer to home, I don't anticipate doing a lot of driving with occassional long journeys but nothing regular, I am considering changing from an Avensis to a Corolla. This is mainly on a cost basis. I don't want to go smaller than a Corolla and am finding I can get some good deals on say 05/55/06 Corollas as opposed to looking at the Auris. My ex-gf had a Corolla T2 and it was fine to drive and reliable. The cost savings alone make this change look good on paper but I am interested in what other owners feel about their vehicles and anything I should be aware of/watch out for, best models to go for etc.

I am single with no current partner and have no children so I don't need to have a large family car so the Avensis seems to be a very expensive luxury at present (in terms of what it's used for against finance/petrol/insurance/tax costs) so I am thinking along the lines of a T3 1.4 as a replacement. I'd be interested to hear what your experiences have been with your cars.

Thanks

Andrew

i dont know if its the same for the second hand cars, but when i waslooking at buying a new corolla, i found the colourcollection gives you loads of spec for less money, also are you thinking 1.4 petrol or diesel, as the diesel engine from what i have heard, is a very reliable and pretty nippy little engine, definately worth a think

i wouldnt buy a 1.4, id recommend a 1.6 t3 my dad has this....its very nippy and he gets 4mog combined and the specs ok as well as being reliable

i had an auris 1.4 when mine was in for service and it was lifeless andwasn that good on petrol, hardly a diffrenece to my dad 1600
