St185 Intermittant Boost

Hi Guys

Just signed up so best start by sayin hello!

Ive got a 1990 UK spec ST185 (82000 miles), Full stainless exhaust (including decat), HKS dump valve and HKS induction kit, other than that its pretty standard other than 17" alloys.

The problem ive got is you put your foot down (you can hear it sucking in loads of air) but doesnt give much power and then the boost cut will kick in (no FCD fitted), also back fires. However if you put your foot down then back off and hit the power again, it will give you power, think its over fuelling? The only other thing to say is that this fault is completely intermittant and some days i get in the car and it flys??

I dont no wether to go and buy a new airflow meter or wot to do really as ive read on other forums that the dump valve can cause over fuelling?

Any ideas would be great, as i love the car but its gettin to the point now were i feel like selling it!

Thanks

Andy

Yes the dump can cause overfueling. Sometimes they're ok, sometimes not, depends on the car. If you've hit fuel cut try taking out the main engine fuse wait 30 seconds then put back in ( should be labeled on fuse box under bonnet, efi i think)

before you do that, check for engine codes as pulling that fuse will clear them. IIRC it's www.gtfours.co.uk that has the info on how to do it and what they stand for
