Alarm Problems With 2004 Corolla E12

Hello,

I have recently purchased a damaged 2004 Colour Collection Corolla 1.4 5 Door Hatch.

The car was sitting around in the repairers yard for a month or so and the Battery went flat. The repairers have recently taken the Battery off to recharge it and put it back on to start the car up and drive it into thier garage to start the repair work.

When you unlock the doors with the key fob and open the doors the alarm goes off! Also they said when they started it up and drove it into their garge the alarm was going off.

If you lock the doors with the key fob the alarm keeps going for 20 seconds or so then stops. Again if you unlock the doors with the key fob and then open a door it goes off again.

I mention the Battery going flat and being recharged as it may have something to do with the problem.

Can anyone help?

On a connected note the alarm is a Cobra alarm bolted to the nearside front suspension turret. The main wiring loom going to it looks reasonably factory standard looking but there is what looks like an aftermarket bonnet swith. I can't tell if the alarm comes with the car or is an after market add-on?

Can any one help?

Many thanks.

Regards,

Jeffrey
