Hid High Beam Problem

I've fitted some HIDs to the high beam of my Gen 7 today but I have a problem.

When I turn my lights on (dipped beam), both dipped AND high beam come on.

Also, when I flash my high beam both dipped and high flash as well.

Does anyone know what could be causing this?

You fitted HID to high beams :o HIDS take a few secs to warm up, so effectly yo would be flashing with a blue light.. Also HID bulbs are not ideal for short bursts..

But anyway back to the problem... sounds like some sort of interference with the wiring loom... if you disconnect the ballast and reconnect a standard bulb does it still happen?

Unless the the headlight wiring use some sort of relay through the dipped for the highbeam causing this, which is enough to trigger the ballast to fire the bulbs, but not enough to light up a standard halogen

When I fit normal bulbs everything works as normal.

Could it be an earth problem? I have used the same bolt to fasten both dipped and high ballasts, I will separate the ballasts tomorrow and see if this makes any difference.

I was kind of unsure how the effective the HIDs would be for 'flashing' as they have to warm up, but they seem OK, easily as bright as normal bulbs if not brighter.

I decided to fit them as my drive to work involves a fair bit of unlit country roads and seeing the improvement after fitting them to my dipped beam was interested to see the difference they'd make.

Suffice to say, they are BRIGHT as hell! I just hope I can get them working properly.
