Keyed - Part Two

Well, the boys came round on Friday to sort out my car. They'd done some work before on my peugeot removing some scratches and stuff and did a really good job. I decided to take some before and after piccys for you all - I know how much you like photos. Anyway, once I got to Northwich, it turns out there were 4 or 5 cars all done on the same night, all parked behind each other, so there are a few more people going to have to go through the same process.

So here it is at 11:00 on Saturday morning (I hope this works - I've not done photo's before):

And here it is at four, the same afternoon!!

I think you'll agree they did a great job, in freezing weather. I'm really chuffed with it, there was a lot of respraying to do - but being black makes it easier aparently (sliver is the worst colour to do - they said). And I'm even more chuffed that my RAV is back to "normal". I could do with some advice now though - I had the car treated with supaguard when I bought it (2 months ago new), and the guy has said I should have the panels that have been painted retreated so they dont fade diferrently. Can I buy the stuff to do it myself, or am I going to have to take it back to Toyota? Any advice will be greatly received - I'd rather sort this out now, rather than forget about it and regret not doing it later.

Cheers, Lee

You can buy it but it is expensive. I think I would talk to your dealer as they might just have enough about to do that side.

Do you mind me asking how much they charged you?

All I can say is that I ever caught anybody doing that to my car I think I would lose control. I just don't want to think about it because I'm sure I would think nothing of running them over in the heat of the moment. Cowardly cretins.

Glad you are sorted.

Looks a great job

I thought I could still see the scratch, until I realised it was an artifact of the picture (or my monitor). Silly me! :D

Like Anchorman, I'd be screaming with rage if it happened to me. Glad it's fixed

Cheers

Thanks. I didnt have the details with me last night but the guy is call Darren, from a company called Primers based in Warrington, and they came out to me - at my parents in Lymm. Total price was 160, which considering he was at it for 5 hours or so and did such a good job is brilliant value. I'd be suprised if I could get someone to come out and just look at it down here in London for that price.

I'd definately recommend them if anyone needs paint type things doing in the North West area.

Is there anyway that you can "tell" that a car has had SupaGuard applied? As the front end of my Rav has been painted, along with bits of the roof and side, I wonder if the paintwork will look different in a years' time?

Would it be a safer option to have the whole car done, just in case?

Cheers, Simon

Simon

I don't believe you can tell other than water beading off when you wash it. It is acedemic anyway - mine was gone in six months and that was with very careful use of the supplied detergent.

I will never buy it again but some posters seem to be happier with it. I think a good polish is just as good.

Cheers

Nowt wrong with that. A bike with a Petters single cylinder cement mixer engine would do about 200,000 miles on a tank full. 0 -60 in about 2 hours and a top speed of 34mph is good enough for anybody.

Go on tell me - its got 450bhp supercharged 50cc jet engine with 12 Cibies on the front all produced by bothy aerospace inc. The thought of another mad scot airing around paris on a moped? I thought they were just crazy drivers, not that they were trying to avoid bothy II!

If it had a top speed of 34mph, how would it get to 60 in 2 hours? :P
