Toyota Prado Starter Motor Location

Hi, haven't introduced myself yet but will. I am having trouble with my starter, and I know what the problem is. What I do not know is where is the starter motor so I can get it out. Could someone that has a manual covering the 1998 3400 V6 petrol motor please photocopy or even take a snapshot of the page or even the motor itself (but will ned to mark in pen the starter) and send me a copy so that I can find the starter. The clicking starter motor is only the start of your problem, wait until the rest start happening.

My starter went through the click, click, nothing stage, I would get out and move the terminals on the Battery thinking this would work, which it appeared to. Then one day I went out, started my 4bee and heard the starter still engaged, turned off the ignition but the motor kept on turning, even with the key out. The only way to stop it is to disconnect the Battery. When I spoke to Toyota repairer he said I was dillusional, and also offered to repair the starter for several hundred dollars. The fix is about $50, a set of contacts. But I cannot do it until I get the starter out and I need a pic to help.

Please please help. I am on a pension and cannot afford to send it to a dealer to fix. Any member can email me from the forum, and my email address is kli89047@bigpond.net.au

Thanks in advance.

If you read my intro you probably gathered I am eccentric or crazy, I am crazy. And so I answer my own question. I think ity is on the driver side, and you need to take the wheel off to get to it.

Don't let repairer's fool you when it comes to starter motor issues, they are charging big buck to replace a whole unit when all that need doing is a set of contacts for around $40 to $50.
