Car Stays On But Turns Off With Gas

My girl has a 91 corolla it has a 4afe. The car idles but it will turn off when you give it gas.

Sounds like it needs a full re tune dude. check the plugs and leads first though as this can sometimes cause a cutout the second there is a change in vibration but it is more than likley flooding the spark plugs the second you hit the throtle

Check the air filter, it should be clean enough that you can see through it looking at a light.

When was the fuel filter last changed? Should be changed every 24,000 miles.

Does it happen when you give the car gas when parked up or when on the move?

It could be a break in an electrical wire or in the coil lead.

It can be hard to find but just have a good look at the electrcial wires especially if any look to have tape on them, indicating they have been worked with before.

Alternatively as 85_seca suggests the car could require a tune up as the base idle settings could need resetting.
