Tyre Wear

this may be a very stupid post to some and fair enough it might be but im just so annoyed as i recently bought a brand new set of 17" RSGT's for my celica with 215/45R17 kuhmo tyres but have now noticed that they have worn completly uneven. Both insides of the 2 front tyres are completly yet equally bald while the outsides are as good as brand new. fair enough i never got the wheels tracked after they were fitted but would that be the only cause as the wearing is quite abnormal??? might it be my offset or something of that nature. any help would be great as i just dont have the money to replace tyres at this rate!

If you had a slight tracking problem, even one that was quite minor before, then having fitted the 17's could well have exaggerated the problem with the resulting uneven wear being a lot more noticeable on your new tyres.

You should replace the tyres then get the tracking done, but if your car has been lowered it's quite possible (but not always) that the standard tracking settings won't be correct for your suspension set up, in this case it's advisable to get a Full Global Geometric Check/Adjustment done as this checks 15 different angles including Toe, castor and camber.

as said above! if the tracking is out slightly then the tyre will wear uneven. i had this on my old car and the tracking wasnt out by much but the inside of the tyres wer like slicks.
