I have had a new engine fitted under warranty because of the oil fault with the VVT-i engine all was fine before the new engine but now I to am getting the engine light coming up, and yep it's the cat & ecu, I recently took out the Toyota 2 year extended warranty with unlimited mileage,

My question is does anyone know if this would be covered under that warranty.

Because Mr T Reckoned it would cost a grand, I am going back tomorrow and see whats what,

Well it's all been fixed the parts cost was £965 obviously labour would be quite steep on top. All fixed on the warranty that cost me £735 for two years Unlimited Mileage.

Nice.

Sept 15 My engine made a funny noise at 76515 miles nothing loud just a rasping sound at 2500/3000 revs, Mt T diagnosed the problem as big end failure due to oil starvation, my car was out of warranty but serviced every 10k so it was only 6k from its service, Mr T Replaced the engine free of charge, they told me they have had quite a few with the same fault, with even less miles than mine, I guess it's cheeper than a court case.

On Dec 26 only 4k after the new engine went in the engine managment light came on so I took it to Mr T next day, they said it was probably a false reading, but I though new engine, immac bodywork, I am going to get my money out of this car and keep it, I extended the warranty that day with Toyota for two years with unlimited mileage costing me £735.

A week later the managment light came on again, toyota diagnosed the fault again and said it was still an unusual fault so said see if it happens again, it did.

Toyota agreed to replace the ECU and the Manifold under warranty, the parts alone would be £965 so with labour on top I would expect a further £350 or so, the money spent on the warranty was the best I have spent in a long time.

It was all completed today as this was the first opportunity for me, I had a courtesy car, they cleaned my car, and gave it a hoover round also.

So I am a happy chappy.
