Lost Keys

Hi

When i bought my 1999 avensis it came with one fob key and the grey normal key. Since then we have lost the fob key and so have no remote key only the grey normal one. I rang the dealership and they said the car car would need reprogramming if we wanted a fob key and this would cost somewhere in the order of £1500. This ist an option as if i had this sort of cash to play with i'd be driving a 57 avensis and not a 99!!.

I am worried if we lose the only key we have we are "up the creek without a key"

has anyone any ideas or advice on this.

many thanks

graham

It should help you out.

Toyota cannot duplicate a new key from the 'Grey' key using their standard procedure. The ONLY option is to track down a specialist locksmith.

My son lost his keys to his Polo last Sunday and a Merseyside mobile locksmith charged him £150 for 2 new keys. Took him 10 seconds to get in the car and about 2 hours to program the new keys. pm me if you want the number.
