Don't worry Gaz - Even if they get him you can have him back in a few months ( that seems to be how long it takes them to sack the managers up there ! )

A while ago Harry Redknapp was the scum of the earth when he went to Southampton, more recently he was going down for taking bungs, now he's the saviour of Newcastle who's going to turn them from the pathetic little club with good home support that they are into the huge Premiership & Champions League winning club they think they are. Give me a break.

The only way Newcastle will get any amount of success is to give a manager time. Allardyce didn't have nearly enough, he inherited a squad that he had no input in building who were used to a previous manager's style of play & training methods etc & was expected to turn them into world beaters immediately. Now whoever gets the job next is going to have the same problems & unless he's given time to build his own squad & for the players to properly learn the way he does things, they'll continue to be a smalltime club.

For some reason their fans think that having good home support (which is an excellent thing, don't get me wrong) means they should be challenging for the title so when a manager comes in & makes decent progress it is & never will be good enough, so they get on his back & out he goes. While having a high attendance for home games is part of being a big club, it isn't the only factor & the others simply aren't there & unless the fans accept that they're not as big as they think they are, no manager will ever be good enough to get the time needed to have any chance of bringing success.

Final word on Redknapp, if he goes he's picking a nice time to leave Portsmouth, eh? Before January deals they had 14 players for the duration of the ACN, the club is really going to suffer until they're all back so if he leaves soon as expected, the club will probably do woefully "since Redknapp left" & he'll look like an even better manager when in fact he'd have left them in crap street.

Couldn't agree more Kev. Newcastle want to be known as a big club and seem to expect success overnight. They've been this way for years. They've had a 'rocky' defence for as long as I can remember yet never addressed this problem. All they seem to be interested in is putting the worlds best striker in that famous shirt and this seems to appease the fans. You can try to buy success - or you can try to build sustainable success. They could do worse than look down the A19 at a smaller club who have the finest chairman in the league. Not the richest, but one who understands that success isn't likely if you change the regime every 6 months. You need foundations, stability and TIME !

Sir Alex didn't exactly set the world of football alight in his first couple of seasons at Man U, but look at him now !

You can try to buy success, but without the foundations in place it won't last.

Your defence is rubbish anyway & you haven't got any strikers because of the cup of nations. Are you going to blame Newcastle for the fact that you haven't scored a goal at home for God knows how long too? Face the facts, it's because you're crap, not because Newcastle have offered your manager a job

Football Focus suggested there should be a inquest into betting patterns about redknapp and the newcastle job lol

Owen will have a getout clause in his contract for if they get relegated. A player of his quality wouldn't dream of underperforming anywhere but the premiership.

David Blaine is a bit miffed as he's just lost his world record. A couple of years ago he sat in a box suspended above tower bridge for 44 days. Someone's just told him about Alan Smith doing nothing in the box for 8 months !
